A Few Words About Me

My name is Dimitris Papadimitriou, and music has been an integral part of my life from a very young age. As a graduate of the Music School of Chania, I had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the unique approach to education and learning within music schools, gaining valuable experience both as a student and as a future music educator.

I studied at the Department of Music Studies at the University of Ioannina, specializing in Cretan lyra and with a particular interest in Greek traditional music. I also completed a Master’s degree, further developing my knowledge and expertise in musicological research and the study of musical traditions.

My journey with the Cretan lyra began at a young age and continues to this day with the same passion and dedication. Alongside my work with the instrument, I study music theory, rhythm, and the structure of folk and traditional music—elements that I incorporate into my teaching approach. My goal is for students to develop not only solid technical skills but also a deeper understanding of music as an art form and a means of expression.

Having completed specialized training programs in special education, rhythm studies, and the use of modern technologies in education, I strive to apply contemporary teaching methods tailored to the individual needs of each student.

Today, through teaching, I guide students who wish to discover music, develop their artistic skills, or prepare for entrance exams to music schools. I believe that effective music education combines knowledge, a structured approach, and inspiration, creating the foundations for a meaningful and lasting relationship with music.
